Rampage in the temple

John's account of Jesus clearing the temple is remarkably similar to that of the other three gospels, which is why the author of GospelsInParallel.com placed all the accounts side-by-side for easy comparison. However, as noted in footnote #1, the timing of John's account requires it to be much earlier in Jesus' ministry.

The best explanation is that Jesus cleared the temple on two separate occasions. This makes a lot of sense, as Jesus would have traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover each year during his 3½ year ministry, and it's obvious that the "establishment" wasn't going to change their way of doing things even after one temple cleansing.
