Philippians 1:29

It is actually a priviledge to suffer for Christ. Albert Barnes, from his Notes on the Whole Bible, gives four reasons:
  1. We resemble Christ, who also suffered
  2. Trials are evidence that we are His
  3. We are suffering for a cause that is worth the suffering
  4. We will get an even greater reward in heaven
From Philippians 1:12-14, I think we can add a 5th reason: We become a witness for others. If others observe us suffering, and trusting God, and making it, it gives them more confidence as well, and thus "much more bold to speak the word without fear" (verse 14).
